Our Philosophy

At the ruddy duck our philosophy is to provide customers with an enjoyable and exciting dining experience. We are focused on showcasing the best of Yorkshire and British ingredients, cooked with a modern twist whilst in keeping with classic techniques.
Head chef Matt Robinson wants to share the experience he has gained over the years with his customers, from rosetted boutique hotels to Michelin star restaurants he has learned techniques that help enhance a dish whilst respecting the ingredients he uses.

Local Produced Yorkshire Quality

We are lucky enough to have the walled kitchen gardens in the grounds, great for picking seasonal organic fruit and vegetables which are perfect for evening restaurant service. Working closely with our suppliers enables us to get the best ingredients possible such as Yorkshire rhubarb in winter and local Yorkshire moors lamb in spring.
