There is some uncertainty about the Latin quotation around the ceiling in the front entrance hall.  I was told that it reads;

"By the endeavours of our forefathers we will survive"

This of course relates to the Wortley Family.

Bedroom Wings

These are named after past members of the Trade Union Labour and Co-operative Movement.

Keir Hardie Founder of the Labour Party and M.P.
Robert Owen Founder of the Co-operative Movement
Vin William It was his idea to buy Wortley Hall from the Wortley family.
Gorge Lansbury Co-founder of the Labour Party and M.P.
Tom Mann (1856-1941) Engineering Union Leader.
Abe Moffatt (1896 - 1975) Scottish Miners Leader.
Harry Johnson First Chairman of Wortley Hall - Labours Home.
Hague Wing Alf & Marion Hague, first Secretary of Wortley Hall.

Conference / Training Rooms

In the 1950s some rooms were adopted and the refurbishment paid for by Trades Unions, this policy is still the case.

Lounge Engineering Union then the AEU (now Unite the Union)
Dining Room Foundry Workers Union.
Board Room AMICUS Board Room.
NAW Garden Room The National Assembly of Women.
Henry Collins Henry Collins was a socialist lecturer in economics at Cambridge University, he lectured to the Foundry Workers at Wortley Hall.
ASLEF Room Associated Society of Locomotive Engineers and Firemen.
FBU Room Fire Brigades Union

Stewart Charnley Stewart was President from 1996 to 2004
