There is some uncertainty about the Latin quotation around the ceiling in the front entrance hall. I was told that it reads;
"By the endeavours of our forefathers we will survive"
This of course relates to the Wortley Family.
These are named after past members of the Trade Union Labour and Co-operative Movement.

In the 1950s some rooms were adopted and the refurbishment paid for by Trades Unions, this policy is still the case.
